Day 130: Road Trip (Phillips, 2000)

Starring Breckin Meyer, Amy Smart and Seann William Scott, this teeny road movie is the story of four friends who go on a road trip to recover Josh’s sex tape that he accidentally mailed to his girlfriend Tiffany. Tiffany and Josh have been together since they were kids, and after not hearing from her for weeks, Josh assumes they are broken up and sleeps with a classmate, Beth. When Beth decides to film it, Josh leaves the tape in his room and asks his friend to mail another tape to his girlfriend at another university, but he picks up the wrong tape.
The plot is not fantastic and it’s not as funny as it promises, in fact, some of the jokes are just cringe-worthy! I will admit that some moments made me smile, but nothing more than that. The film also made me hate Tom Green, realising that he is not at all funny, and Seann William Scott is just playing the same role as he did in American Pie.

I was promised, by my boyfriend, a film similar to American Pie, but it really isn’t… At all! American Pie, although a little childish these days, is so much funnier and brighter than this, although having said that, it wasn’t a total disaster; clean direction, easy to watch and bearable.

3 star film
