After Jenny and John (Aniston & Wilson) get married, John is fearful that the next step on Jenny’s list is kids. Feeling that he is still too young to start a family, he takes the advice of his friend in getting a puppy to distract Jenny’s attention.
Marley is a disobedient dog who chews drywall and eats answering machines, and as much as the couple love their dog, they struggle to cope with him when they decide to finally start a family.
This could have been a more interesting film with a bit more focus on the family rather than the dog – even though he is technically the main character. As a family/comedy/drama, there is very little focus on actual family life and only how a dog can cause stress and happiness in equal measure, so little comedy that I was confused from the beginning, and the only moment in the film that even slightly resembles ‘drama’ is a shameless moment in which the dog shits in the sea.
This film is boring and basically plot-less; I struggled to stay awake throughout and was fighting the urge to turn it off. The only really great thing about this film is Alan Arkin who is hilarious, as always. Other than that – definitely not worth seeing!
