Well, some of these names are familiar from past Disney films I have watched and reviewed in this blog. And this film is pretty much on a par with the others. I was preparing myself for mass disappointment before watching this take on Wind in the Willows since the other old and almost unheard of Disney films I have watched have not been great. I have to say though, the actual content almost came close to the older Disney’s we all know and love such as Sleeping Beauty and Dumbo, as in they are classics but slightly boring by today’s standards.
The animation of the film looks a little cheap and rushed, again, compared to other classics from around the same time, but certain moments are funny and endearing with the usual Disney charm. Unlike the other old Disney classics I’ve watched recently, this is one that small children would probably still enjoy for the quirky characters and senseless humour, but it’s not something I could watch and enjoy personally.
On that note I think it’s appropriate to label it “average” – it’s good for the kids which is fair enough since that’s it’s main target audience, but not as timeless and classic as you might hope for from Disney.
