The Road to El Dorado is about two Spanish con men in search of the city of gold. When they eventually find it, however, they are mistaken for Gods and have to continue to make the locals believe in them while they attempt to escape with the gold. Although while they’re there they get a little too close to the locals and it becomes harder and harder for them to leave.
This film is witty, intelligent and a hell of a lot of fun. Voiced by Kevin Klein and Kenneth Branagh, the talents in this film are superb and the characters shine through in the actors’ voices. The animation is beautiful too and this is another case in which Dreamworks really gives Pixar a run for their money. It is by no means a classic and probably not worth a second viewing, but I do highly recommend it for fans of family films and Dreamworks animations.
This is one of those films that will have you hooked from the very beginning, it will definitely make you laugh and the music just adds to the feel good value of it. It is difficult to find the specific flaws of this film, you would have to look pretty hard to find them, but all in all it is a brilliant film through and through; a definite must see but perhaps not an ever watchable classic.
