Bradley Cooper stars as Eddie Morra, a lazy, uninspired writer who comes across a new drug that allows him to access 100% of his brain power. After taking the drug he manages to finish his novel in a week, get it published, learn everything he has ever wanted to learn, and eventually he turns his attention to Wall Street, hoping to use his superhuman intelligence to outsmart the market. Unfortunately, other people get wind of what he’s taking and want some for themselves, and after taking out an illegal short term loan, he finds himself on the run from some of the most dangerous people in New York.
The cinematography in the film is affecting, different and visually stunning at times, and it so appropriately defines the characters’ feelings throughout. The very concept of the film is brilliant and something that everyone can enjoy and have fun with, perhaps thinking what you would do with these powers? It has some spectacular action sequences, some fair comedy and some excellent aspects of drama, all coming from Cooper, proving that he is a versatile and believable actor in any role.
It’s definitely worth a watch, even if you don’t think it’s your thing, because it does seem like the kind of film that anyone could find at least a little bit of enjoyment from.
